Since first introducing our forensic workshops and programmes we have been able to provide events to fit the needs of many different schools and projects. Feedback from both teachers and students is positive but you don’t have to take our word for it below are just a few of their comments:
“Business & Education SY have used the professional services of Think Forensic for the past 5 years. We have worked in partnership on a number of projects ranging from science fairs to Aim Higher funded vocational masterclasses. Think Forensics have provided interactive and engaging workshops aimed at developing analytical and key skills in science as well as making science real and exciting for young people with diverse learning abilities.”
Nawaz Khan, Business & Education South Yorkshire
Science fairs Year 7 to Year 10, Vocational Masterclasses
“The workshops interested the pupils and were just about the right length. Our pupils enjoyed working alongside real forensic scientists and we particularly appreciated how you tailored the workshops to the different groups. The students were obviously discussing it with other students who weren’t able to attend the event.”
Lesley Wilkes, Head of Science Almondbury High School.
Year 7 and 9 Full day events
“The session delivered by Think Forensic at Willowgarth was excellent. It was very informative and entertaining, both for pupils and teachers. The session discussed Forensics Science as a career and the ways to get into the field. A lot of pupils in Y10 and in particular in the class selected are interested in persuing Forensics as a career, so it was highly beneficial for them. The session also involved techniques like DNA fingerprinting, blood spatter analysis and the pupils were put in the role of a SOCO where they had to solve a kidnapping case. They thoroughly enjoyed the session and wanted to ask loads of questions at the end. To the Think Forensics team – thank you and keep up the good work.
S Parveen, Willowgarth High School, Barnsley Y10 Masterclass
“The forensics workshops are a really exciting and practical way of demonstrating how science is applied in the real world. Pupils thoroughly enjoy the workshops and the school values the enhancement that the sessions offer to Work Related Learning, Careers, Aimhigher programme and the Science curriculum”.
Lee Evans, Work Related Learning Co-ordinator, Edward Sheerien School, Barnsley

“Just a short note to thank you for entertaining and inspiring the children on your visit to Greetland School. The children thoroughly enjoyed discovering the techniques used in forensic science.”

Forensic session with Year 6
The team from Think Forensic are extremely obliging and helpful. They mix in well with all abilities of students and involve all students in group activities. The students thoroughly enjoy the practical aspect of the sessions. We would strongly recommend them to other schools. We have used them for the last three years and will continue to do so in the future.

Fingerprinting - porous and non porous surfaces
When we did finger printing we all thought it was fab. We all found it very interesting and fun, everyone went on about it all day.
Even our parents said it was fantastic when we said what we had been doing.
The best bit about the finger printing session was seeing all the swirls and lines and things in your fingers. It was very interesting and fantastic to learn about.
I enjoyed fingerprinting because we talked about how much a like we are to other people. It was just like on CSI. We got to print our own fingerprints, that was awesome.
I enjoyed the fingerprinting session on our science day because it was a good experience as I had never done anything like this before.
Masterclass Students Aim Higher Projects Year 9 to 6th form
“It has made me think about a career in forensic science. I don’t know yet if I would like to be a forensic scientist or a scenes of crime officer but I found it interesting to see how it all fits in.”
“I really enjoyed the session, the blood spatter experiments and the way entomologists work everything out was fascinating”
“I can now see how science fits into work and how people use the experiments we do in school to solve crimes.”
“The people were great, they were friendly and explained everything really well thank you for coming to our school”
